Local resident Jim McLean has been re-elected as a Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for Newton Mearns South and Eaglesham in May’s local council elections.
Born and raised in Eaglesham, Jim has stayed there all his life attending Eaglesham Primary School, then Williamwood and latterly Mearns Castle School. Jim is married and has lived in the same house in Eaglesham for the last 59 years.
He wants to represent the views of local people and ensure that community interests are taken into account. He works as a Senior Trusts and Grants Officer for Scottish Huntington’s Association raising much needed funds for their work throughout Scotland.
Jim said “I am delighted to have been re-elected as a Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for Newton Mearns South and Eaglesham.
“I am determined to give a voice to local people in my community and ensure they get the representation they deserve.
“Councillors should be more representative of the communities they serve. This is a great place to live and we need to resist unfettered development, ensure our taxes are used efficiently and that services meet the needs of local people.”
