Local mum and Clarkston resident, Kate Campbell, is the councillor for the Clarkston, Netherlee and Williamwood ward and also Deputy Provost of East Renfrewshire.
Kate, her husband and two daughters have lived in Clarkston for over ten years, with both girls attending the local primary and secondary schools. With her background in media and marketing and being a Clarkston resident herself, Kate feels well equipped to effectively represent the views and needs of her local community.
On being selected, Kate said that she was “delighted and excited” to be chosen as candidate for her local ward. She continued, “there was no Conservative councillor representing our local community, and I believed that it was vital to return a strong Conservative and Unionist voice for our area.
“I want to ensure that issues such as social care remain a local council responsibility and are not transferred to Holyrood.
“Most importantly, I am determined that local services should be of a standard that residents expect and deserve, and that the area is as safe and prosperous as possible.
“I want to make sure that our Council Tax is spent wisely on things that matter – getting our public services back on track, freeing our roads of potholes, supporting local schools and businesses, and having an effective waste and recycling program.”
